And interestingly, even though the time is worth more than gold and we know that under no circumstances can we recover or increase, we have a tendency to live as if we had unlimited time at our disposal.
From a rational point of view we know that our time is limited: the day has 24 hours and not a minute more and we live X, X being more or less, but not expandable.
Continually time escapes us like water through your hands. We would give anything to have more at our disposal, but when we finally got some time to enjoy it, sometimes we lose. Paradoxically, right? We do not have time to breathe, but then we waste it with things like watch TV programs that do not provide anything, not even a good time.
Moreover, it is common to hear people say they are "killing time". Anyone would seem a sacrilege to kill something that is the most valuable thing you have.
On the other hand, we know that our time and our lives are limited, but we do not mind letting go of those things that really matter to us or that we thought would make us happier, for later, for a more convenient time. Then, when it is too late, come the regrets
"In the end, what matters is not the years of life, but the life of the years"
(Abraham Lincoln)
